My (male) gout has flared up 3 times this month and this last time has been the worst. I’m posting to see if anyone else suffers from it or did or has experience through a loved one. I’ll give some background to cut down on questions since just saying I have gout is fairly vague.
I have been on keto for 4 1/2 months and I stay pretty regular with it and stay pretty “clean”, I think. I have lost a good amount of weight and lightly exercise. I drink a good amount of water and take supplements - Vitamin C, K2, D3, zinc, magnesium, boron, Potassium, electrolytes and apple cider vinegar. I have not had much alcohol lately but if I do then it is a low sugar/carb wine. I did have a few glasses yesterday and it flared up bad today. Im hoping I’m not sensitive to the low sugar wine. I just started to take a water pill to hopefully expel as much uric acid as possible. My gout would flare up when not on keto twice a year and now it’s been flaring up a little more. I’m wondering if anyone has any experience with keto and gout? Thx!
I had it probably 15 year ago (perhaps a bit longer). I was actually teaching a weeklong class in Boston at the time and it flared up so badly and so quickly that I had to teach sitting down with my leg extended for the rest of the week.
I got some meds when I got home and haven't had an issue since, so I'm afraid that I can't offer any helpful advice.

Thank you,
I’m doing a fast now to “knock it out” then try to be more aware of what may bring it on.
Did some quick “internet” research and I found that some people can have a gout flare up while becoming fat adapted during keto.
I’m already fat adapted.
The other is some people while doing a prolonged fast can have a rapid increase in serum urate concentration.
I have been doing a prolonged fast.
So maybe it’s a piece of the puzzle.
