I debated on which forum topic I should put this under, it's not quite lifestyle support and not quite commercial keto since it's an ingredient.
Throughout the work week, I fast during the day and in the evening after a 12 hour shift I have a relatively light meal. Monday night I was in ketosis and had a piece of my homemade smoked salmon (ingredients are salmon, Sukrin Gold & kosher salt), some pork rinds and 2 slices off a block of cheddar cheese. Yes, this is light for me. Tuesday morning...I was so far out of ketosis it didn't even register on the Keto-Mojo. Tuesday night, back in ketosis. For my meal, pork rinds and a piece of salmon and about 20 pistachios (pistachios & sea salt) I didn't count them, they covered the palm of my hand. This morning ketones are 0.3. What the actual...?
Sukrin Gold? I've been on a keto seesaw since Sunday when I smoked the salmon. Last time I made it I used a different brown sugar substitute. It's supposed to be less than 2% of the "other" ingredients which includes malt extract. Maybe my system is ultra sensitive, anything is possible.
I didn't have my KetoMojo when I made the first batch of salmon and I had used Truvia that time since it has sugar and molasses in it. I don't doubt for a second it took me down as well. This is really frustrating because smoked salmon is pretty much the only non-breaded, non-deep fried fish I like.
My glucose has been stellar the entire time. I check my ketones/glucose in the morning usually about an 30 min after I get up and before my morning BPC. When I get home at night I check it again before my dinner.
Am I barking up the wrong tree? Am I missing something?
TIA

If I were experiencing something like this, I would try eating a teaspoon of Sukrin gold in a fasted state, then measure at 30 minutes and again at an hour. Given that your blood glucose numbers are fine, I'd also be curious about what your fat intake is like.

@ketoadmin I don't understand, are you wondering about too much or too little of fat? I can lay out a typical week, if that's helpful.
I will try the teaspoon of Sukrin tonight and check it before ingestion and twice after as you suggest. I wish I would have thought of that!

@valkyrie I would think too little. Also, are you still trying to lose weight or are you in maintenance mode?

Definitely weight loss.

@ketoadmin Well, it's not the Sukrin Gold.

Looks like I left the house without posting my reply. I don't know whether to be amuse or annoyed. It'll still be on my screen when I get home at least.
Nutshell: yes I did the Sukrin only test. No, I haven't been tracking macros. That changes today. {yellow}:face:

I find my blood glucose numbers are always very good -- upper 70s to low 90s. My ketones are rarely above .6. I think alot of that has to do with me not consuming enough fat. That's what I base my hypothesis on.

Interesting. So have you upped your fat for a week to confirm or deny the hypothesis? I think that would be real interesting. Are you like me, and fat was never something that was eaten a lot, for no particular reason?
I went ahead and paid for a year of CarbManager, it looks like it could take the place of an app I used to use but for the life of me cannot remember the name. I really hate taking the time to enter stuff, but I'm at my wits end. Once I have my typical stuff entered, it should get easier and less time consuming.

I haven't done anything "scientific" to test my theory; it's mostly anecdotal. For example, yesterday morning, my ketones were at .3. We had relatively lean meat for dinner (hanger steak). Last night, I made chopped steak out of brisket (30% fat) with butter melted on top and my ketones were at .6 this morning. Both nights, I had the same salad and same wine with dinner. The only variable was the meat.

I started ketovore a week ago and am doing psmf a few days a week then back to ketovore. prior to doing this I was strictly keto. My ketones ranged from .5 to 1.0. They are now ranging from 2.8 to 3.0! I don't know if this helps. Its helping me with multiple skin issues. Maybe the next subject
