gramsSure, you can pay a premium for sugar free ketchup from the store, or you can make your own. Not only is making your own ketchup super-easy, but you have control over the flavor. Want it sweeter? Consider using BochaSweet. Want it tangier? Use apple cider vinegar instead of white. What it zestier? Add 1/8 tsp of powdered mustard and/or paprika. Play around with this recipe and make it your own!
Ingredients
1/2 cup allulose (90g)
1/2 tsp xanthan gum
1 cup water (240mL)
6 oz tomato paste (1 can / 170g)
1/2 cup distilled white vinegar (120mL)
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp salt (sea salt recommended)
1/8 tsp ground cloves
Directions
- In a 1 quart saucepan, whisk together the allulose and xanthan gum, then add the water and turn up the heat to medium. Whisk until the allulose has dissolved and you have a simple syrup.
- Add the tomato paste and vinegar and whisk until the sauce is a uniform consistency.
- Add the spices, lower the temperature to low or medium-low and simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring whenever it bubbles. The longer you simmer, the thicker, darker and richer your ketchup will be.
- Remove from heat and let cool for at least 15 minutes before transferring to a container. Due to the acidity of the vinegar, this should keep in the fridge for at least a month, if not longer.

Thank you so much! I finally made this after 12 months of gluten free/keto with some minor adjustments to taste. I think this will be a favourite now as hubby has joined in the keto eating 🙂
Hi Steve,
This recipe is EXCELLENT!!! And very easy to make!
Even my husband loves it. He loves shrimp and we take this ketchup and add some horseradish and it is the perfect red sauce for seafood.
It tastes much better than the regular ketchup that you buy off the shelves. Thank you so much for taking the time to perfect this recipe. It is greatly appreciated.
